We’ve all been there, reading the news and either thought “That’s bollocks” or “The journalist is talking out of their arse(s)”. This blog is part of a crew trying to cover some of the stuff that Ben Goldacre doesn’t have time/space to cover on his own as well as anything I’m interested i.
About the author
badchemist is a PhD chemist at the University of Durham, UK. My research interests lie in synthetic polymer chemistry and materials science particularly when applied to biomedical fields. In the real world badchemist is Seb Spain.

Comments Policy
This blog has been created to provoke discussion of the topics contained within consequently posting of comments relevant to posts is positively encouraged. As the content of posts can feature foul and abusive language it would be hypocritical of me to stop you using it too. Feel free but try and keep an air of imagination and wit about it. As some of the topics of discussion can be quite controversial please do not resort to ad hom and libellous attacks and/or trolling; the latter will earn a swift banning/IP block. Also, please cite references where appropriate, whale.to is not a reference.
To minimise the risk of legal proceedings and keep the content relevant I reserve the right to delete/edit posts where appropriate. In the case of edits, their nature will be clearly displayed at the bottom of the comment, posts will only be deleted if they cannot be edited to a more applicable content.
In order to combat spamming I have using aksimet and reCaptcha. The methods of the former may result in some comments being incorrectly labelled as spam, I check this regularly and will de-spam comments when appropriate, comments with more than 2 links are automatically held for moderation to minimise spammability further. I AM NOT TRYING TO CENSOR YOU, so don’t email me accusing me of doing so.
